La Mémoire des jours

La Mémoire des jours

On 3 August 1943, eight women—living in different countries, speaking different languages, and unaware of one another—wrote in their diaries.

My research begins with this solitary yet collective act.

Working at the intersection of theater, sound, and archival research, in these two weeks at Rez Gauche I explored with the composer Maria Vincenza Cabizza, the choreographer Daisy Ramson Phillips, the singers Maribeth Diggle and Lieselot De Wilde and the dramaturg Lena Meyskens how a private and seemingly mundane action like writing in a diary can form invisible connections across time and space.

Through visits to different archives in Europe, I discovered dozens of diaries written by women, whose entries form the core of my project. Among them are Anne Frank, Iris Origo, and Patricia Highsmith, alongside lesser-known voices preserved in archival collections. Their private words become a constellation of voices, revealing unexpected collective patterns within the historical tensions of their time.

The work translates this research into a sound-based dramaturgy and performative installation.
